16,000 sf adaptive reuse of an existing building. The circa 1950’s building evolved through numerous expansions and improvements in it’s past 50 year life with many of the building’s original architectural features obscured or altered. These include a wood framed barrel vaulted ceiling structure and a tall glass façade with arched roof form at the primary entry facade. The total reconstruction and renovation for the skating rink exposes and restores these features back to their original form as well as renewing all systems and structure to insure a long second life in the years ahead.
The renovations also include the installation of a new energy saving reflective membrane roofing system, new energy efficient mechanical systems, and an air circulation system to reduce the heating and cooling costs. The skating rink includes a 10,000 sf hard wood maple skating surface and a state of the art sound and lighting system.
